   To this day I still have no real idea how me and Gethro became such great friends. We are such stubborn characters neither of us would admit to being wrong even knowing we where. We at times argued the entire journey up the m6. A brief rest until we resumed in the allnighter at some point it always got forgot then never mentioned again. We both knew where to draw a line and never crossed it. It was silly things who sang a song, the dj at a recent allnighter, anything like that once you thought your answer was right. Neither of us even considered saying I'm wrong it never got physical in anyway at all. We both knew at the end of the day if either of us was in trouble 1 thing we could rely on was eachother. The usual thing's is he trusted not to try it on in my absence. Never ever needed to be asked between me + Geth we had a set of rules that would never be broken + he was bigger than me at the time.   

  There is 1 place everybody feels at home in as they look like they belong there. For Gethro that was Wigan casino it was almost like the place was created with him in mind. Yate or any other allnighter he was the same man laughing joking enjoying the time there. The best you ever saw him was at a Friday oldies it was the best stage for him to perform bar none. The records where the type he liked in a atmosphere full of joy and friends. The number of oldies allnighters I went to with Geth must be large often we would spend the whole weekend at the same events. The 2 faces that you could bet your life would be there every Friday oldies allnighter. Where odd's on to still be there when Sunday morning arrived. Below are a few records picked by Gethro himself a fine set of sounds. The Torch is a big influence on his choices. Every track is true northern soul you would'nt expect anything less from 1 of the pioneers of the Wigan casino allnighter success. The scene at that time had faces that where looked upto. Gethro was that type of person there at the start easily approached to ask about things. Well respected opinion as his priority lay on his love of northern soul music. That was the reason why I'd classed him as 1 of the innovators of the Wigan casino's huge success story. Ok the dedication of the staff the exclusive sounds that where the overall trademark of the allnighter. But you still needed more things to get that kind of success at that particular time it was Gethro and a few other's that filled the roll.                                                                  There is the best yet to come when he as finished his long awaited book on Wigan casino. A thing you always knew with him was the way he felt about things. If he thought it was wrong he said so you could be in a group on a coach or just 4 in his car talking. What he thought remained the same he had a unbiased opinion if everybody there said no that's the wrong way to get that done. But he thought it was the right way to do it he would say so going with the crowd to be popular never entered into it. He was always very much his own thinker did'nt need anybody else to think for him that's for certain.
